Our Fall Session of our After School Program is up and running and we're having a blast! The first week featured an in depth pottery painting instruction and session. The kids used silk screens and we shared a new technique that Ron coined: "Operation Scarification" - which was inspired by "N", a summer camper. In August "N" painted up a perfectly innocent looking cat to look like a character from a horror show. We thought it showed supreme imagination - "N" was thinking about Halloween when she was painting the cat. "N" is back with us for our After School Program for the Fall session and along with our other incredibly creative After Schoolers.
This past Tuesday we created the beginnings of a Clay Wall Clock - students rolled out the slabs of raw clay, correctly worked it to remove air bubbles then imprinted the clay with their designs. One student chose a brick wall pattern to emphasize the fact it was a "Wall Clock" - it took a bit to catch on - A brick wall .. to make a wall clock? Pure creative genius!
Next week the students are working on Glass Art. Nightlights and tree ornaments are the hottest projects in our Glass Art lineup as a drop in project. We're sure the kids will keep on waving their creative magic wands and come up with some fun projects!
