Walk-ins Welcome, Larger Groups and Clay on the Wheel by Appointment.
Our party packages are (almost) FAMOUS for providing a fun, memorable experience for everyone joining in on the celebration.
An important part of the experience is making the process as easy and stress-free as possible for you, the party planner.
Below are the most frequently asked questions we get regarding our parties and gatherings. If yours isn’t among them, we’re just an e-mail or phone call away and always happy to help!
Q. What kind of parties do you offer?
A. We currently offer three(?) types of party packages;
Pottery painting parties (for guests of honour ages 8 years old and up). Within this category we also offer adult-oriented parties and gatherings which are sometimes organized a bit differently. *
Junior pottery painting parties (specifically tailored for guests of honour ages 4-7 years old)
Glass fusing parties (generally for guests of honour ages 9 years old and up)*
Q. How do I book my party?
A. There are three ways to book your party…
Online - You’d be amazed at how many people book their parties at 3:17 a.m. from the comfort of their jammies and bunny slippers! You can plan and secure your party reservation by clicking on https://placefull.com/celebrate-with-us--party-in-the-main-studio . You can secure your party spot by answering a few questions and clicking on the green “Reserve” button (Please don’t forget this crucial step, or your reservation won’t be processed).
Your booking will then be “locked in” for your gathering on our booking system and you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail within a few minutes. If, for any reason, you do not receive an e-mail within 10 minutes, kindly check your spam folder and/or the spelling of your e-mail address.
By phone - If you prefer the human touch, we’ll be happy to walk you through the booking process right over the phone. Once we complete the booking process for you, a confirmation e-mail will follow for ready reference to the details of your event.
In person - Some of our party planners prefer to see how it all works by visiting the studio in person. You are more than welcome to do so! One of our staff will be happy to show you around, answer any questions you may have and/or complete the booking process with you.
Rather than pester you in the middle of dinner, we ask that you give us a call us a day or two before your event to confirm numbers and answer any questions you may have.
Q. How do your parties work?
A. Really, Really well! Regardless of the type of party you choose, (ie: pottery painting or glass fusing) our party/event schedule is set up to provide a relaxed and well organized creative experience for our guests. Specifically;
Arrival: When can we arrive? On the day of your event, you are welcome to arrive up to 15 minutes prior to your party’s start time. The party area will be set up and waiting for you.
Your Host: Upon your arrival, your dedicated party/event host will be on hand to greet you and help with any supplies, decorations, etc. that you have with you.
Welcome sign and project selection station: Near the front of the studio, a personalized “Welcome” sign will be situated on the front table. On that table will also be a wide selection of pieces for the guests to choose from.
For pottery painting parties, a selection of 40 to 60 choices will be available to choose from, as well as duplicates of our more popular pieces.
For glass fusing parties, guests will find a selection of 10-12 sample pieces of different shapes and sizes (eg: bowls, plates, sun catchers, votives, etc.) from which to choose. The designs that participants can choose from is limited only by their imagination.
Tutorial and participant assistance: Your host will start the session by providing a brief “how to” tutorial for the group. To ensure that no one gets left behind in the process, they will also be on hand to assist throughout the activity portion of the event.
Event timing: We know that managing timing elements (such as allowable lag time for latecomers, changeover from activity to celebration/food time, etc. )is a key element in the success of your event. Not to worry; your dedicated party host will be there throughout to keep your event on track!.
Q. Are your party packages just for birthdays?
A. Definitely not! We put the same amount of energy into any occasion worth celebrating including bridal and wedding showers, Scout and Guide events, girls night out, family gatherings and beyond. We've pretty much done them all. (except that one bris celebration that had to cancel...)
Q. What exactly are your party “Packages” and what is provided in the cost?
A. The party “package” pricing refers to the package cost of a set (or minimum) number of participants for a given activity.
For example, the “from $200 (plus hst)” reference to the pottery painting package is based on the idea that that you are purchasing a minimum of 8 projects, presumably completed by 8 partygoers. The package price also includes the various goods and services included therein (ie: the pottery pieces, pottery firing, use of the party room, activity time, your dedicated party host, etc.).
If, for example, only seven participants attend the package cost is still $200 (plus HST).
For this party event option reference to 8 participants The party “package”, in this instance, works out to $25 (plus hst) per participant.
Q. Is the party package only for eight people?
A. Definitely not. While our private party room can accommodate 12 participants comfortably, our main studio area can seat groups of up to 36. In other words; you choose the number and we’ll make it work!
Q. Can I bring snacks/cake/pizza to a pottery painting party?
A. Absolutely. All we ask is that you supply your own plates, and supplies (don’t forget the candles; people always seem to forget the candles).
Kindly refrain from bringing greasy snacks, such as potato chips and Doritos. Pottery pieces decorated with little orange fingerprints can negatively affect the finished outcome, and are not very popular with other painters.
Q. Is here a minimum age for parties at Glazed Expressions?
A. For pottery painting, not really. All of the materials used are both non-toxic and wash out easily with water. If you are booking a party for very young children, please select our Junior Party option for ages 4-7.
Q. What is the minimum age for your glass fusing parties ?
A. The recommended minimum age for glass party attendees is 9 years of age or older. Due to the fact that glass (even fusible glass) is sharp, we rely on a certain level of maturity with guests working with glass. That said, if there are a few younger participants attending a glass fusing party, we do have ways to mitigate the risk of cut fingers. Feel free to reach out by phone for more information.
Q. What is the maximum number of participants you can accommodate?
A. While our main studio area can comfortably accommodate 36 guests, our private party/event room can comfortably seat 10-12 adults.
Larger groups can be accommodated in the main studio area and separated from other guests. For private events held in the main studio area, the first party/event slots on Saturdays and Sundays (as well as most weekdays) are a great option. As the studio does not open until 12:30, this booking time allows for the use of the entire studio area.
Q. Can I specifically reserve the party room?
A. Most pottery painting parties are automatically booked into our party room, unless the participant numbers suggest otherwise. Events with larger group sizes will be accommodated in our main studio area.
Pottery painting parties booked for 10 a.m. starts on Saturdays and Sundays are automatically booked in the main studio area. These sessions are private, as they are held before the studio opens at 12:30 p.m. These time slots are especially popular for our junior parties, as parents of younger participants are more likely to stay with their children for the 90 minute duration of the party.
Glass fusing parties are held in the dedicated glass area of our main studio.
Q. Will there be other people at the studio during my party?
A. 10 am parties, No. Other time slots, yes, there will quite likely be others in the main studio area.
Q. What about spectators? Can parents stay at children's parties?
A. In fairness to other guests using the studio, we do not encourage large numbers of spectators at our parties. A reasonable number of adults is perfectly fine, whereas a number coming close to the number of participants is excessive. The exception to this policy is during our 10a.m. party time slot, when overcrowding will not be an issue.
Most parents enjoy the fact that there are local cafes, shops and restaurants to explore within steps of our studio. Embrace the freedom!
Q. What if I have to cancel?
A. We get it. Sometimes things just… happen. If, for whatever reason, you need to reschedule or cancel your plans with us, we understand. We do however, appreciate when people show us the courtesy of a phone call, message, or e-mail to let us know.
Q. Can I decorate with streamers and balloons?
A. Balloons? Sure! Streamers? Why not? Spray paint? Maybe not so much… If it adds to the festivities, you can absolutely decorate your party area. The one exception that we Can. Not. Allow… GLITTER! It's a tool of the Devil I tell you! Seriously, glitter causes a lot of extra work for our staff. and is strongly discouraged (given the choice, we’d probably prefer spray paint).
Q. What if I have other questions?
A. We're a phone call away ... 905-877-2224 and will be happy to answer any additional questions you may have. Just none with math. I'm not great with math...
