World Hunger Day is Oct. 17

We've created a program to help your group, corporation, school or private organization participate in the Empty Bowls movement!

What is Empty Bowls? Empty Bowls events are held in communities throughout North America with the objective to raise funds and awareness for local charities that work to relieve hunger and homelessness. Patrons purchase a bowl of soup or spaghetti in a bowl, then take the bowl home when it's empty.

Here at Glazed Expressions we love to help neighbourhood organizations in any way we can - it's our way of giving back to our community that's kept us in business all these years.

How it works: We order in the number of bowls your organization requires, your volunteers paint the bowls - this is the fun part! - using our paints (also known as "underglazes") and when that part is done, we dip the bowls in an "overglaze" to seal everything and make the final bowl food-safe. We fire the bowls in our kilns to make them oh so pretty and ready to be filled with your food. Generally the food is donated, check with health regulations before organizing your Empty Bowl Fundraiser or ideally team up with a local restaurant, certified school or church kitchen or caterer to provide the food prep.

Bowl Pricing: Contact us for costing and lead times - it will depend on the size of your group and the size of your bowl! Pricing includes use of our studio, a "creative sherpa" to guide you through the process, materials and firing. Our studio seats 40 comfortably, and we can arrange several "seatings" if you have a large number of painters. We can also come to your facility for larger groups!
